Colin Lyall

Business
Colin joined mtt/consulting as a director in June 2001.

Colin started in the construction industry in 1980, when he was invited by Haden Young Ltd to undertake a degree course with their sponsorship. Colin successfully achieved a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Engineering at the South Bank University and went on to join Matthew Hall as a graduate engineer.

In 1987 Colin joined the Wilson and Sandford Partnership, a small and progressive building services design consultancy.

In 1990, Colin joined Jaros Baum & Bolles (UK) Ltd, the London base of one of North America’s leading building services consultants.

Colin subsequently took his extensive experience into the offices of Flack and Kurtz and Oscar Faber where he became Regional Director.

Colin left Oscar Faber in 2000 to set up his own company, operating as a freelance building services designer and project manager.

Sport
As a schoolboy, Colin was an active sporting all rounder with particular interest in football, squash, and athletics.

At the age of 20, Colin developed a swollen disc, resulting in an operation to relieve the pressure on his sciatic nerve. Unfortunately he picked up a spinal infection in theatre resulting in a prolonged recovery and ending his participation in contact sport.

Now at the age of 44, having taken little exercise in recent years, Colin is training hard to face the challenge of the Gobi desert run, and is making the most of the opportunity to regain the fitness and physique of his former years!

Personal
Colin lives in Brighton with his wife (Chrissie) and his three teenage children (Clark, Lauren and Ellis)
